Midlothian Council’s Cabinet Member for Education, Cllr Jim Muirhead said: “We were all very sad to hear about the recent death of Kenneth Thomson. Kenneth was a highly regarded headteacher at Lasswade High School.

“An avid traveller, he was instrumental in forging the strong links the school continue to enjoy to this day with China. His former colleagues and those who knew him personally, have remarked on his thoughtful, generous and supportive nature and who had a keen sense of humour.

“Kenneth will be greatly missed by many and we pass on our sincere sympathies to his wife Alison and to his family and friends, during this difficult time.”

Ken’s funeral took place last Friday with a limited number in attendance due to coronavirus restrictions.
