Tributes have been paid to a Scots joiner following his sudden death earlier this week.

Aaron Smith, 21, passed away on Monday morning and his family have set up a fundraising page in memory of the tragic workman. Sister Rhiannon, 17, has organised the GoFundMe page which has raised more than £3000 in just two days.

Rhiannon, from Haddington, East Lothian, posted this poignant message on the page: “Sadly [on] the morning of 28/11/22 we lost a beloved family member, Aaron. He was a character. He made everyone laugh and smile around him, he was always the show off. Words cannot describe the pain in our chests, we still cannot believe it.

“In honour of Aaron we’d love to give him the send off he deserves.Aaron, you will never know how missed you are. You’ll forever be in everyone’s heart. Let’s give Aaron the send off he deserves. Forever 21. Speak up. Men’s mental health matters, men cry too. It’s okay to not be okay.”

And yesterday the teen added: “I just want to thank everyone who have shared and donated, this means the absolute world to my family. Aaron will be smiling from the stars, unbelievably proud of everyone single one of us. Aaron, I love you dearly. Until we meet again beautiful boy.”

Aaron’s mother Sarah Ewan also posted: “This is the worst time of my life - no mother should have to bury their child. I’m absolutely devastated.
