Lynsay McAvoy, a self employed make-up artist who is restarting a Princess Parties business, put the call out on Facebook searching for two jobseekers to fill the roles as superheroes for kids parties in 2021, providing that Covid-19 measures are relaxed by then.

“As soon as we get the green light to get the parties up and running, we'll be starting to take bookings,” says Bo'ness-based Lynsay.

“I've got my princesses all organised – and now I'm just needing two superheroes.”

Lynsay is looking for a Spider-Man and Batman, but she says both sexes can apply, as the character's identity will be covered by the mask and padding on the costume.

“Most importantly, I am looking for people who will be able to impress the kids with backflips, handstands, flips and spins – and all while staying in character.

“After all, there's no point in them just turning up in a superhero costume and giving the kids a quick wave," she adds. “They need to be able to impress the kids by doing things superheroes do.”

So how exactly does Lynsay plan to go about interviewing any wannabe superheroes?

“It's going to be quite difficult," she says, laughing. “But when I get the go-ahead to hire a hall, I'll get all the applicants together for an audition of sorts.

“As well as all the acrobatic stuff, they'll have to be good with children, and be able to encourage those who are sitting on the sidelines to get involved in the fun.

“I taught dancers for years, so I'll have lots choreographed and it's a matter of them practicing the moves and showing me they can do it.”
