The Atlas A400M flew from Brize Norton, an RAF station in Oxfordshire, circled around Edinburgh and Fife before heading back down south.
The plane’s call sign is Comet 457.
One local described it as the: “loudest noise we’ve ever heard in the sky.”
The plane flew over the Capital just after 2pm on Friday.
