Her mum, Kimberley explained: “Yesterday my daughter and I went to Lauriston Castle and found this gorgeous, clearly beloved little Penguin in the dirt by the entrance.

“He looked so forlorn.

“His fur was ruffled and he had clearly been loved very much by someone.

Kimberley and Alice took the penguin home, washed and dried him, and Alice took care of him by introducing him to her other toys.

Mum added: “Tonight, he found some comfort in my daughters own favourite Penguin who consoled him.

"He has gone to bed tonight being held again by little hands."

The family have tried to find the owner, saying: "We’ll look after him until his family is found.”
