Physios get to work to boost fitness

PHYSIOS across the Lothians are to enter a range of workplaces to encourage better lifestyles among city workers.

The scheme by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists will see 150 professionals visiting offices, power plants and car garages to show people healthier habits as part of the Workout at Work Day initiative.

It follows a survey by the organisation showing nearly half of Scottish adults get out of breath walking up stairs.

Kenryck Lloyd-Jones, CSP policy officer for Scotland, said: “It’s a real concern that so many people are left out of breath by relatively simple tasks.

“Time and financial pressures obviously prevent many people from taking exercise but Workout at Work Day is about showing people the cheap and easy ways that it can be built into your daily routine.

“Adopting some of those healthy habits can help us tackle the obesity crisis facing Scotland.”
