There are few better ways to put a smile on someone's face than with a colourful and vivid bouquet of flowers.

With Mother’s Day fast approaching we asked our readers to recommend some of the best florists in the Capital.

And you did not disappoint, with hundreds sending in their suggestions for where to pick the perfect bunch.

Narcissus, on Broughton Street, was one of the favoured outlets in the city centre, as several of our readers praised their innovative and eye-catching arrangements.

Replying to our appeal on Facebook, Marco Del Valle described Narcissus as “not only the the best quality in flowers but extremely good taste, and speedy reliable service”.

In Bruntsfield, Joanna Traynor told us there was no competition with Snapdragon, on Bruntsfield Place.

She posted: “Snapdragon every time; The most elegant shop with the most elegant flowers, alongside plants, candles and even handmade chocolate”.
