Plans to build 600 homes on Cammo Estate submitted
Developers CALA and David Wilson homes say around 160 properties will be designated for affordable housing as part of the project.
Proposals put forward for the development include a mix of one, two and three bedroom apartments, as well as the creation of colony and terraced housing.

Hide AdThe 656-home project will also feature larger four and five bedroom detached homes and includes a 20-metre wide ‘green corridor’ for pedestrian and cycling routes near Maybury Road.
Around 25 per cent of the homes will be listed as ‘affordable’ and will comprise a range of apartments.

A spokesman for the consortium said: “This application is the next stage for a project that forms an important element of the City of Edinburgh Council’s vision for new homes across the capital.”

Hide Ad“We feel this final proposal is well-judged, well-balanced and respects the location and the existing community and will bring long-term enhancements to this part of Edinburgh.”
He added the group had worked closely with local community groups in the Cammo estate to ease concerns over a lack of transport links.
The plans include changing the speed limit on nearby Maybury Road and space for a bus turning site to enhance public transport provision.
The spokesman continued:“A great deal of work has gone into the submitted planning application, with contributions from the community taken on board, we thank those that attended the public consultation event and provided feedback on the initial design proposals.”
