Police and paramedics called to Edinburgh block of flats as area outside taped off

Police have taped off an area outside a block of flats in part of Edinburgh this afternoon following the sudden death of a man.

Police cars and an ambulance were seen parked to the side of the Holyrood Court flats in Dumbiedykes Road, with two officers standing guard at the cordon.

It is understood the man fell from height but details about why he fell are not yet known.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 2pm on Thursday, 30 July, officers were called to the Holyrood Court area of Edinburgh, following the sudden death of a man.

"The death is currently being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.”
