Police and paramedics called to four-car crash on A1 near Fort Kinnaird

Police and paramedics have been called to a four-car crash on the A1 close to Fort Kinnaird.

A police spokesman said officers were called to the collision on the southbound carriageway at about 11:10am on Tuesday.

One motorist who passed the scene said there were two people still trapped in a vehicle.

A picture shared on social media shows paramedics surrounding a vehicle on the road with some debris strewn across the road.

However, the police spokesman said there have been no reports of any injuries.

All vehicles damaged are being removed from the scene.

The council-run Edinburgh Travel News has tweeted that traffic is slow on approach with vehicle recovery still taking place.

They added: "Still queues between Newcraighall and QMU (Queen Margaret University)."

The Scottish Ambulance Service has also been contacted for comment.
