Police appeal after woman attacked on Livingston footpath

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a 63-year-old woman was attacked as she walked along a footpath in Livingston.

She was pushed from behind and held on the ground while her attacker searched her jacket pockets before making off empty-handed.

The incident happened around 4.30pm on Sunday on a footpath to the rear of Easter Bankton.

A police spokesman said: “The woman was not seriously injured, but was left shaken.

“She did not see her attacker so we have no description.

“However, given the time of day this occurred and the area being popular with dog walkers, there are potentially a number of people who may have witnessed this incident.” Anyone with information can contact Lothian and Borders Police on 0131 311 3131, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
