Police appeal following canal robbery

The man in his 50s was walking along the Union Canal towpath under Cultins Road towards Hermiston Gait at around 6.50pm when he was approached by three teenage youths who spoke to him.

Hide AdThe victim continued walking but was pushed over and assaulted by the group who then stole his wallet and ran off back along the towpath towards the main road.
DC Kevin Walls from Corstorphine CID said: “Fortunately the man only suffered minor facial injuries but was extremely shaken by this unprovoked attack. The area would still have been busy with traffic on the A71 at this time of the evening and I want to speak to anyone who was walking or driving in the area and may have seen the group of youths.”
The youths are all described as white males in their teens. Two were 5 foot 8 inches tall and the third was 6 foot tall. The first was wearing a beanie hat, a dark zipped top, grey jogging bottoms and dark trainers with white soles. The second was wearing a dark blue Umbro top, blue dirty or faded jeans and dark trainers. The third was wearing a dark hooded top, dark jogging bottoms and gloves.
