Police checks target drivers

POLICE were today set to target uninsured drivers with road checks to catch motorists flouting the law.

Officers were also due to carry out unmarked patrols in a bid to identify uninsured drivers, as well as inviting members of the public to contact police with detail of motorists taking to the roads without insurance.

A police spokesman said: “Uninsured drivers force up insurance premiums, which hits other law-abiding motorists directly in their pockets.”
