Police disperse hundreds of youths from the Meadows
Hundreds of youths have gathered again in the Meadows in Edinburgh tonight.
The large group prompted action from police with a number of officers sent to disperse them.
The Meadows have become a hot spot for large gatherings which are banned under current lockdown restrictions.
Eye witnesses say between 200 and 300 young people were in the park, drinking and playing loud music.
One said: “I was walking home when several police cars raced past – and more followed.
"There must have been around 20 police there.
"The group was mostly young people – a lot of smaller groups who then merged into one.
"There was a lot of music playing.”
Police confirmed they responded to complaints of youth disorder at the Meadows.
There were similar scenes on Monday when police were called to disperse crowds of St Patrick’s Day revellers who swarmed to the Meadows with reports of loud music and people drinking.
More to follow.
