Police find missing sex offender

A “VIOLENT” sex offender who disappeared more than a week ago has been found, police said today.

Brian Andrews, 32, went missing from Lanark in South Lanarkshire last Tuesday, with a tent, bag and a flight case.

He was arrested in Livingston, West Lothian, last night.

The former Livingston resident still has close ties to the area, with members of his family believed to still live and work in West Lothian.

Members of the public had been warned not to approach Andrews, who was described by police as a “violent individual”.

He has previous convictions for serious sexual assaults, including the multiple rape of a 28-year-old woman in West Lothian in 2004, for which he was sentenced to six years.

A trial heard that Andrews had subjected the mother to a “sexual ordeal” while she was staying at her parents’ house, in West Lothian.

He had pushed his way in to the house demanding “a cuddle”, but proceeded to strangle and rape the woman, while her son slept upstairs.
