Police plea as victim named

POLICE have made a fresh appeal for information into the alleged murder of a woman found dead at a sheltered housing complex as the victim was named.

The body of Rosina Sutherland, 74, was discovered on Sunday afternoon at her home in Longstone Park, sparking a major police investigation.

Kevin Rooney, 25, from Edinburgh, was charged with murder when he appeared in court on Tuesday, following the elderly woman’s death. He made no plea or declaration when he appeared in private at Edinburgh Sheriff Court.
