Police to go for visibility

POLICE are set to increase patrols in East Lothian over Christmas to combat violence and antisocial behaviour.

Operation Equinox will see officers monitor hotspots and stage high-profile patrols in Haddington and Musselburgh town centres.

Superintendent Phil O’Kane said: “We will have more officers out and about in our towns and villages over the coming weeks, but are asking people to take steps to avoid falling victim to crime, whether it be keeping personal belongings safe, or drinking sensibly if you’re enjoying a night out.”
