Barack Obama heads to St Andrews for round of golf

Barack Obama headed straight for the Home of Golf after touching down in Scotland on his first visit to the country.

The former US president teed off on the world-famous Old Course in St Andrews ahead of his appearance at tonight’s charity gala in Edinburgh.

A relaxed looking Mr Obama posed for photos with fans and greeted onlookers who had lined the famous course to greet him.

Tom Hunter was also on the course with the former president.

Speculation mounted after Mr Obama touched down at Edinburgh Airport in golf gear, with many on social media offering suggestions on which course he might be heading to.
