EDINBURGH Western Liberal Democrat MSP Alex Cole-Hamilton has called for Cammo to be removed from the Local Development Plan's proposed housing sites following council approval of proposals for 1320 new homes on other greenbelt land at Gogar.

Councillors argued the go-ahead for the first phase of Sir David Murray’s so-called Garden District blueprints would ease pressure on more sensitive sites such as Cammo, Curriehill and Curriemuirend.

Mr Cole-Hamilton said: “Residents in Cammo have battled to protect their greenbelt for many years. Development there would see the loss of much loved natural heritage and greenbelt, not to mention the impact such a proposal would have on traffic at Barnton. Now that the city Council has approved the development at Gogar, it makes perfect sense for Cammo to be removed from the LDP so this uncertainty can be ended.”
