Christmas Covid themed graffiti appears just off Leith Walk

A painting emphasising the impact of coronavirus regulations on Christmas has appeared on a wall in Edinburgh.

The work of art, which has been spotted just off Leith Walk, shows police officers wearing masks halting Father Christmas and putting a clamp on his sleigh.

It appears just days after Nicola Sturgeon announced mainland Scotland will be going into a full lockdown form December 26 following news of a new mutant strain of Covid spreading across the south east of England including London, and Wales.

The initial plan for rules to be relaxed between 23 to 27 December has also been scrapped.

The graffiti was done by Rebel Bear whose art appears in other parts of the country including Glasgow.

The artist painted a controversial mural in the same area earlier this year of animals protesting

The different species painted, including a bear, a rhino, a tiger and a monkey, were holding signs saying: “Long live the lockdown”, “bats rule” and “keep humans locked up.”
