Colinton/Fairmeilhead: SNP snatch seat from Labour

THE SNP have snatched a seat from Labour in Colinton/Fairmeilhead.

Musician Richard Lewis was elected along with two sitting Tories Elaine Aitken and Jason Rust, while Labour councillor Eric Barry lost out.

Mr Lewis said: “We worked our socks off - I did everything possible.”

He sad in the eve of poll he had even entertained a knitting group to an impromptu piano recital of Fifties favourite Black and White Rag.

“I was interrupting their evening canvassing, so I thought it was the least I could do.”

Cllr Rust said: “To be returned with such a resounding vote is a reward for the hard work over the past seven years in Colinton and five years in Oxgangs.”
