THE Scottish Conservatives have come under fire after it emerged they sent out campaign material without paying sufficient postage.

One Edinburgh resident said he received a card this morning informing him that there was still £2 to pay on a letter dispatched to his address.

He said that, after arriving at the city’s Windsor Place sorting office to collect the item, staff told him they had at least 50 letters of the same type, all with £2 postage to pay.

“Imagine my annoyance when, after paying the £2, I find that it is ‘unsolicited’ mail from the Conservative Party,” he said.

“One very strongly-worded email on its way to Ruth Davidson’s office.”

A spokeswoman for the Scottish Conservatives said: “We apologise for any inconvenience caused, this was a human error. We would like to make contact with this constituent so we can reimburse him for his trouble.”
