Coronavirus in Scotland: Nicola Sturgeon announces postcode checker to help understand restrictions

Scots will be given access to a postcode checker system so they can see what level of restrictions their neighbourhood is under, according to Nicola Sturgeon.

The new comes as the First Minister briefs the Scottish Parliament on the latest developments in the fight against covid-19.

Speaking this afternoon, Ms Sturgeon said: "We will be announcing a new postcode checker, to allow people to know what restrictions are in place in their area at any given time.

"The detail within each level is intended to give people greater certainty on what to expect at different rates of transmission.

"But it is important that we retain some flexibility – we will keep the detail of each level under review as the situation develops.”

Ms Sturgeon also said she will announce on Thursday which health board areas will be placed in each tier of the new coronavirus restriction system.

The tiered restriction system has five levels, with zero being the closest to normal and four being strictest.
