A dominant night in Edinburgh and the Lothians for the SNP saw the party claim seven of the nine possible seats in the general election.

Ian Murray became the only Labour representitive in Scotland by holding his Edinburgh South seat, while Chrisitine Jardine held Edinburgh West for the Liberal Democrates.

There were gains for the SNP in East Lothian and Midlothian from the Labour Party while Deidre Brock held her Edinburgh North and Leith seat along with Tommy Sheppard in Edinburgh East and Joanna Cherry in Edinburgh South West.

In Midlothian and East Lothian the party took the seats from Labour and West Lothian they held both seats.
