Labour wants breakfast clubs to be set up in every school
The party highlighted research showing that Scotland had the lowest percentage of schools in the UK with a breakfast club.
Labour published its alternative programme for government last week, giving priority to an Education Bill to establish a breakfast club in every school.

Hide AdEducation spokesman and East Lothian MSP Iain Gray said: “The SNP should commit to a breakfast club in every school in its programme for government. It’ll mean that our children start the day with a healthy meal, that’ll help cut the attainment gap in our classrooms and inequality in our communities.
“For all the talk about education and childcare in Scotland recently, the most recent league table puts Scotland bottom of the UK with more than one in four schools missing out.
“We need to move our debate on childcare away from what fits on an election leaflet to what fits around the lives of working families.
“If the SNP are serious about cutting the attainment gap and better childcare for working families they should back Labour’s plan for a breakfast club in every school.”
