Ms Grahame revealed that she had held a number of meetings with the Managing Director of ScotRail Alliance and had raised the issue of late arrivals on the Borders service.

She said: “Mr Verster advised me that some of the delays were as a result of the installation of new equipment on the line and told me that regularity should improve soon.

“The running of special steam trains at weekends will also disrupt timetables but that is no excuse for regular travellers not being informed of changes well in advance so they can plan accordingly.

“I also know that there have been as many as 12 cancellations in one day, which simply isn’t good enough and I will continue to press ScotRail for improvements.”

Ms Grahame who is a regular passenger on the line asked that any constituents with an issue regarding the service contact her with any concerns prior to her next meeting.
