Today’s statement, which is expected to take place around 2.15pm, comes after Ms Sturgeon asked parents, pupils and teachers to be prepared for further home learning.

Speaking at the Scottish Government's coronavirus briefing on Monday, rhe First Minister said she would not be drawn on the decision, which is due to be made by the Cabinet on Tuesday morning, but stressed she did not want to “raise anyone's expectations” that restrictions could be lifted.
