‘Scotland is indeed divided down the middle’ - Curtice

Professor Sir John Curtice says that, based on the results that are in so far, it looks as though the SNP plus the Greens are heading for 49 percent of the constituency vote, and that the SNP plus the Greens and Alba may win 51 percent of the list vote.

In truth, he says, the only safe conclusion to draw from these results is that Scotland is indeed divided down the middle on the consitutional question.

First woman of Indian descent elected in Clydebank & Milngavie

Mid Scotland and Fife list result announced

The Conservatives have taken four seats on the Mid Scotland and Fife regional list - in a result that exactly resembles the 2016 tally.

Scottish Labour came second with two seats, followed by the Greens with one.

Salmond loses contest for Holyrood seat

Alex Salmond will not return to the Scottish Parliament after he failed in his bid to pick up a seat on the North East regional list.

The former first minster had hoped to boost the Scottish independence cause by returning to frontline politics with his Alba Party.

But his party failed to pick up a seat in the region after winning just 8,269 votes.

Lib Dems lose seat to Greens in North East

The Lib Dems have lost their list seat in North East Scotland to the Green Party.

Meanwhile the Conservatives won four seats, and Labour took another two.

First wheelchair user elected to Scottish Parliament

Voters in Glasgow have elected the first ever wheelchair user to the Scottish Parliament.

Labour’s Pam Duncan-Glancy, who was a list candidate for the party, won a seat at Holyrood alongside leader Anas Sarwar and former MP Paul Sweeney.

Glasgow list result announced

Scottish Labour have won four seats on the Glasgow region list, while the Scottish Conservatives took two, and the Green Party took one.

The SNP did not take any list seats in the region, having dominated the constituency contest in the area.

Ben Macpherson has been re-elected in Edinburgh Northern and Leith for the SNP, with a majority of more than 12,000 votes.
