Plans for an extension with fresh spa facilities have been sent to the city council.

An Edinburgh health club could soon have a brand new set of spa facilities.

David Lloyd Clubs at Corstorphine already caters to scores of fitness fanatics in the Capital with its popular gym and swimming pool.

And new plans are in place to expand that offer with an extension which would contain a spa garden.

The Glasgow Road venue already offers ‘limited’ spa facilities but members have been clamouring for more options.

A planning bid sent to the city council details proposals for a single-storey extension at the back of the property.

As well as saunas, steam rooms and relaxation areas, the plans would see an outdoor spa garden to the rear of the extension.

The garden itself would contain a sauna and outdoor pool.

A planning statement reads: “The proposed development will diversify and enhance the club’s offering in order to address the changing needs and expectations of members.

“The proposed development is part of David Lloyd’s cultural transformation to invest and diversify in several of their key facilities with the overall aim to increase wellness and being.

“Health and wellbeing are fundamental determinants which can shape place making and positively impact individuals.

“The proposed spa facilities are intended to raise the importance of health and wellbeing to allow individuals to detach from the chaos of daily life.”
