£5m to go on road upgrades

Funding of £5 million will be used to upgrade stretches of some of Scotland’s key roads.

A total of 30 kilometres will be resurfaced, with part of the M8 motorway between Glasgow and Edinburgh included.

It comes after the Scottish Government pledged to start a “building boom” with the extra money available as a result of the Chancellor’s autumn budget statement.

Transport Minister Keith Brown said: “Our strategic road network plays a vitally important role in supporting tourism, food and drink and the renewables industry.”
