Pupils make move in bike safety fight

MORE than 200 Lothian schoolchildren attended an event organised by Lothian and Borders Police to promote safer cycling.

The primary pupils were deputised as junior road safety officers, whose task is to promote safe behaviour on our roads to their fellow pupils.

The annual junior road safety officer induction training took place yesterday at the offices of SELEX Galileo, in Crewe Road North.

As part of the induction training, the children took part in a crash scenario to demonstrate how many people are involved and affected by a crash.

Following the event, the children will return to their schools where they will be responsible for raising road safety awareness by way of competitions, assembly talks and maintaining an up-to-date
noticeboard.
