Rapist fights life sentence
A SEX attacker who won a court challenge against his deportation is planning to use human rights legislation to fight a potential life sentence.
Chan Wright, 39, raped three women in Edinburgh, West Lothian, Angus and Aberdeen over a 15-year period and was told he could be jailed for life.
His lawyers have argued that would be “a form of preventative detention” incompatible with human rights law.
A judge yesterday fixed a two-day hearing for next month.
