Residents attend Border rail line event

MORE than 1200 residents attended a series of drop-in sessions held by Network Rail about the new Borders rail line from Edinburgh to Tweedbank.

The events in Midlothian and the Borders were held ahead of the construction programme due to get under way early in the new year.

People had the opportunity to view proposed route maps and ask questions.

Craig Bowman, Network Rail communications manager, said they had been pleased with the level of response.

“In the main, people have been very supportive of the project. There have been some concerns raised about the impact of construction on properties and journeys and we’re committed to keeping this disruption to a minimum.”

“We plan another series of drop-ins later in the new year once the designs are available.”
