Retailer chooses pet bunny to appear on new set of pyjamas

LINGERIE chain La Senza usually opts for stunning models such as Danielle Lineker and Emma Heming to be the face of the brand.

But now the high street store is set to have an Edinburgh rabbit gracing a set of its pyjamas following a nationwide hunt to find the UK’s cutest pets.

The retailer’s Pets On Pyjamas competition encouraged people to submit a photograph of their pet, along with some information about them.

There were four categories to choose from, including dogs, cats, small furries (including hamsters and rabbits) and other pets such as fish and snakes.

Schoolgirl Isla Campbell, ten, submitted a photograph of her deaf rabbit Bobo, who was revealed as the winner of the small furry category.

The prize involves her beloved Bobo appearing on a pyjama set in La Senza stores across the UK, including the Princes Street branch, from May next year.

Isla, who lives in Mountcastle and is a primary six pupil at St John’s Primary School in Portobello, said: “Bobo is dead cuddly and likes eating broccoli. I was really excited when I found out he had won. I think it’s going to be really funny because if my friends get a pair of the jammies, I can say ‘that’s my rabbit!’”

Isla received Bobo as a present for her ninth birthday in June last year.

The one-and-a-half-year-old rabbit, who loves cuddles and getting his nose rubbed, is completely deaf and doesn’t like being outdoors for too long.

Isla’s mum, Alison, who works as a nurse at a GP surgery in Edinburgh, said: “He doesn’t like being outside too long and as soon as the back door is opened, he runs in and hides in his special corner.

“He loves to lie in front of the telly, although he is as deaf as a post. We have stood behind him with whistles and cymbals and he doesn’t budge.

“He also loves Doritos and popcorn.”

Mrs Campbell, who heard about the competition through Facebook, added: “He’s such a loved wee pet, my daughter adores him. He is a cute wee thing.

“Isla couldn’t believe it when we found out he had won. It was just so lovely to see her like that because she loves him to pieces. She keeps going, ‘Bobo – you’re a star’.

“My husband Davy is absolutely delighted for her too.

“I think it’s fantastic that Bobo will be immortalised on pyjamas – Isla can’t wait to see them.”

La Senza received 554 entries for the competition, ranging from dogs and cats to birds and gerbils.

A spokeswoman for the lingerie retailer said: “Bobo the rabbit was a sure winner with those flopsy ears – who could resist?”

The pyjama set featuring Bobo will also be available on the La Senza website from May 2012.
