Revellers have a ball at Sick Kids fundraiser with a licence to thrill

HUNDREDS of revellers enjoyed a licence to thrill at a James Bond Golden Ball which raised £20,000 for the Sick Kids Hospital.

The 007 event, held at the Roxburghe Hotel and run by Radio Lollipop, was the hospital station’s most successful fundraising bash held in the city.

The British spy theme was selected to mark the 50th anniversary of the James Bond films and boasted a raffle and auction as well as the ball.

Hosted by Scott Wilson, more than 200 people attended the fundraising event sponsored by construction consultants Thomson Gray.
Louise Trow, chair of Radio Lollipop Edinburgh said, “We are astounded by everyone’s generosity at the Golden Ball and would like to thank all of our guests, sponsors and ­supporters.

“The money raised will allow the Radio Lollipop service to continue at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children and we will also be able to put on some extra special events and activities for the children.”

Radio Lollipop is an international organisation run by volunteers who trained to make children’s stay in hospital more fun and less frightening.

The annual Radio Lollipop Ball has become a flagship event for the charity raising £70,000 over the last six years.

It was founded more than 30 years ago.
