Road closures begin in Stockbridge ahead of eight month gas improvement works

Diversions will be in place as a major gas mains improvement project begins in Stockbridge today.

Deanhaugh Street will close at 9am and there will be temporary traffic lights at the junctions with Hamilton Place and Haugh Street.

There are diversions to Lothian Bus routes 24, 29, X29, 36 and 42. More information here.The work to replace metal gas mains with plastic pipes is expected to last around eight months.

The work carried out by SGN will be split into two phases, with Deanhaugh Street closed for two months during Phase One.

In Phase Two Raeburn Place will be closed to Westbound traffic for about five and a half months.

Throughout the works parking will be restricted on both Deanhaugh Street and Raeburn Place.
