AN athlete has completed a 500-mile cycle across the Himalayan mountain range in just 12 days to raise £350 for charity.

Rob Cleat, from Pencaitland, East Lothian, completed the epic journey in aid of Cancer Research UK and Macmillan Cancer Support.

Part of a team of four cyclists led by an Indian guide, the Edinburgh Athletics Club sprinter had to cover an average of 40 miles a day, and reached altitudes of 15,000 ft.
