Ross comes face to face with nymph

EDINBURGH Zoo keeper Ross Poulter was getting a little too close for comfort with this striking Asian Jungle Nymph, as he unveiled the creatures to go on show as part of a month-long display on insects.

The huge collection includes the Queensland Titan stick insect, the bird- eating tarantula, purple jewel beetles, Madagascan hissing cockroaches, apple snails and many more.

Mr Poulter said: “No other group in the animal world shows such a variety of form, colour, function and life cycle as invertebrates do. Even though many are considered pests, people still love them.”

Visitors will be able to enjoy insect handling, expert keeper talks and face-painting.
