Ryanair jet in steps blunder

HOLIDAYMAKERS were forced to stay in their seats for around an hour after a pilot crashed their plane into a set of boarding steps at Edinbugh Airport.

The packed Ryanair flight from Majorca had just landed at the airport and was taxiing into a bay when the plane’s wing smashed into the large metal steps.

A BAA spokesman at Edinburgh Airport said: “I can confirm that an incident occurred on Sunday, September 18 which caused local fire services to attend a plane on stand. No action was required and passengers were free to continue their journeys after 45 minutes.

“We can confirm the incident has been reported to the Air Accident Investigation Branch.”

A Ryanair spokesman said: “Ryanair does not comment on minor incidents.”
