‘Samaritan’ sex attacker sent to jail

A SEX attacker whose victim ran naked from her home to escape him has been jailed for almost four years.

Rafael Bogusz left the 48 year-old woman fearing she was going to die after she was battered with a bottle.

Bogusz, then of Broxburn, West Lothian, yesterday appeared at the High Court in Glasgow after earlier admitting to the attacks.

Judge Lady Dorrian locked him up for three years and nine months, telling the 27 year-old that a custodial sentence was “inevitable”.

The court had heard how Bogusz had posed as a Good Samaritan to get into the woman’s West Lothian home in June 2010. After the attack, she left her home without any clothes on and banged on a door hysterically for help.

Bogusz fled the country after the incident, but was traced to his native Poland and brought back to the UK. He had initially gone on trial at the High Court in Edinburgh accused of rape, but pleaded guilty to a reduced charge.

His lawyer, Ian Bryce, yesterday said the sex attacker had “expressed regret” in “no uncertain terms” for what happened.
