A SCHOOLBOY suffered a broken arm when he was struck by a car in a hit-and-run incident in the Capital.

The collision happened between 8.35am and 8.45am yesterday as the 12-year-old boy was crossing Marchmont Street.

Police said the car, which is described as small and green, initially slowed down after hitting the boy but was then driven away from the scene.

After being knocked down, the 12-year-old immediately got to his feet, but it was later discovered he had fractured his left arm and he was taken to hospital for treatment.

A police spokesman said: “The young boy suffered a painful injury to his arm and anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact police immediately.

“We would similarly urge the driver of the car to get in touch as soon as possible.

“There is a chance they may not have realised the severity of the collision and it is vitally important they make contact with us to explain the circumstances surrounding this incident.”
