Scots deliver jubilee street party snub
Edinburgh royalists have ensured there will at least be some bunting on the streets of the city, with 15 applications to the council. Glasgow City Council has had only seven applications, while only one has been submitted in Aberdeen.
The figures are in stark contrast to England and Wales, where more than 6500 street parties are to be held. Bristol alone will see 92 street parties.

Hide AdThe most applications in Scotland have come to the Scottish Borders Council, which has had 55 after it arranged to distribute £40,000 in grants to community groups organising jubilee events.
Scottish Conservative deputy leader Jackson Carlaw said: “There has always been less of a street party tradition in Scotland – perhaps the weather is less dependable.”
