Seals have a splashing time on birthdays

A PAIR of seals have enjoyed their birthdays in style with a special fish cake.

As part of the double celebration staff at Deep Sea World came up with the treat for Morag, after she reached 21 last week, and Heather, who turns 13 today.

The aquarium’s Michael Morris said: “As common seals always give birth in the summer, both the seals have birthdays that are only eight days apart.

“The fish cake is made from herring and sprat, their favourite food, and is then frozen; allowing the seals to break it apart over a couple of hours.”

Earlier this year Heather became a TV star in Japan after a video of her barrel-rolling into the water of her outdoor enclosure became a surprise hit on YouTube, with more than 87,000 views.
