Shopper hit by van suffers head injury

A 55-YEAR-OLD woman was left with a head injury yesterday after being hit by a van in Leith.Emergency services rushed to Great Junction Street following the collision to treat the woman for a gash to her head.

Witnesses told how the woman was hit by a white van moments after she began to wheel her shopping trolley across the street in busy traffic shortly before 1.30pm.

They said her head was bleeding heavily after the fall and was cared for by nearby shop workers using blankets and paper towels.

Shop assistant Toni Dick (pictured), 19, said: “I ran out and saw her on the ground, covered in blood. She looked stunned.”

Police said no charges had been brought against the driver.
