SSPCA hunts owner of ill treated dog

AN animal welfare charity is hunting the owner of a distinctive white dog which was found in a “horrific condition”, and weighing only half her ideal body weight.

The Scottish SPCA is appealing for information after the white German shepherd was found in Bo’ness, West Lothian, severely emaciated, suffering from a womb infection and with painful sores on her body.

A dog warden picked up the pet in the town’s North Street on Wednesday and alerted the animal welfare charity.

The adult dog, who has been named Mia, was rushed to a vet for treatment and is now receiving the care she needs.

Scottish SPCA inspector Leanne McPake said: “Mia was in an awful state when she was found. She is extremely thin and weighs just 16 kilos, when she should be around 30 kilos.

“She is also suffering from an infection of her womb which would have been causing her a great deal of discomfort.

“The person responsible for Mia clearly hasn’t provided her with even the most basic care.”
