Stockbridge favourite Neighbourgood Market reveals new Princes Street Gardens location
Organisers of the beloved market has announced that it has been awarded the use of the Ross Bandstand this summer
The organisers of Stockbridge hotspot Neighbourgood Market have announced a huge new project that will transform Princes Street Gardens into a community marketplace.
Neighbourgood Market has confirmed that City of Edinburgh Council has awarded organised the use of the Ross Bandstand for up to four years.
The new project is being dubbed ‘Neighbourgood Gardens’ and will open this summer from July 23 until August 31.

Nieghbourgood Market first launched in Stockbridge in 2020 during the COVID lockdown as Edinburgh’s first socially-distanced, contactless outdoor marketplace.
Since then, the market has become a Stockbridge staple every summer.
Neighbourgood Gardens will follow a similar concept as the popular Stockbridge market, with local and independent vendors, food and drink traders and daily performance on the Ross bandstand.
The new market is being brought to fruition with support of Edinburgh’s Cold Town Brewery.
Visitors will be able to pick up beers from the brewery at Neighbourhood Gardens after Cold Town’s successful partnership with the original site in Stockbridge.

Preston Mommsen, from Neighbourgood Market, said: “We're really excited to be awarded this iconic venue underneath Edinburgh Castle. Princes Street Gardens is a wonderful location and we are working hard with Cold Town Brewery to ensure we add to the overall offering of the gardens with local, Scottish food, drink and musical performances.”
Irma Jansen, of Cold Town Brewery, said: “We're absolutely thrilled to be extending our partnership with the team behind Neighbourgood Market at this exciting new location, Neighbourgood Gardens.
“As an Edinburgh-based brewery, it’s fantastic to see Cold Town’s beers being served in such a landmark setting during one of Edinburgh’s busiest and most exciting times of the year”.
Neighbourgood Gardens will be open seven days per week from 11am until 10pm.
The site will be free to access for visitors with daily performances, Fringe finale shows, and a youth music day among many other events planned.
Local acts who might be interested in performing at the market over the festival period can email organisers at [email protected].
Margaret Graham, Culture and Communities Convenor at the City of Edinburgh Council, said: “The Ross Bandstand and West Princes Street Gardens are among our most iconic cultural and historic public spaces, right in the heart of Edinburgh, and we’re eager that they continue to be enjoyed by residents and visitors alike.
“With a strong line-up of performances and a range of independent food and drink traders, Neighbourgood Gardens will be a welcome addition to the venue.”
