Study hope for diseases
RESEARCH carried out by teams at Edinburgh University could lead to a breakthrough in treatment for degenerative conditions.
Scientists believe the findings could slow the progress of a broad range of brain disorders such as Huntington’s, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s diseases.
The Edinburgh team analysed how connection points between brain cells break down during disease and identified six proteins that control the process.
There are no drugs that can effectively halt the progress of these types of illnesses.
