STV will run new channel

SCOTTISH Television has won a licence to run a TV channel dedicated to the Capital.

The broadcaster will operate ETV on the Freeview service, with the help of media students from Edinburgh Napier University.

The channel – along with GTV in Glasgow – will produce more than 20 hours of mainly news-based content a week and is expected to take to the airwaves from October.

An STV statement said: “The two services, GTV and ETV, will provide an innovative television service to the communities they serve, complementing STV’s existing broadcast, online and mobile services.

“These new ventures will also provide media students with opportunities to work and learn in a live broadcast environment.”
