Swan saved after being stuck in tree


Firefighters were called to an unusual rescue after a swan found itself stuck up a tree.
The bird was spotted in distress on the banks of the River Tyne before a crew from Haddington used a ladder to free it.
The swan is receiving treatment at the Royal Dick Veterinary School.

Hide AdAnimal rescue officer Fiona Thorburn said: “It’s likely the swan was looking for somewhere to land and was blown off course due to the severe winds.”
This was the second swan rescue for firefighters this week. A crew from Marionville fire station was called to assist a swan trapped 15ft up in telephone cables in a Portobello garden on Monday.
