Thieves steal jewellery in vehicle raid

THIEVES who broke into a car and made off with a number of items of jewellery are being hunted by police.

The theft took place between 1.30am and 8am on Wednesday in Moredunvale Road when the vehicle’s window was smashed.

The culprits then stole items including earrings, a pinky ring and a gold coloured link bracelet, which police said had a “large amount of sentimental value” to the owner.

Officers asked anyone offered the stolen goods for sale to contact police.

The bracelet has “777” printed into the metal, and the heart-shaped 9-carat gold pinky ring has “SM” printed on the front of the ring and the date “14/12/84” on the inside.

A police spokesman said: “These items have a large amount of sentimental value, and we are keen for any information that can help us reunite them with their owner.

“Anyone who has been offered these items for sale, or who has any information that can help us identify whoever is responsible, should contact police immediately.”
